History
In 1189, Ban Kulin issued the Charter of Kulin Ban, one of the most significant medieval documents of the Balkan region. More than a simple trade agreement, the charter established peaceful relations and free commerce between Bosnia and the Republic of Ragusa (Dubrovnik), demonstrating a commitment to cooperation, trust, and mutual prosperity. Written in Bosančica, the distinctive Bosnian Cyrillic script, the document reflects a society that valued diplomacy, cultural identity, and economic development. More than eight centuries later, the Charter remains a powerful symbol of openness, dialogue, and the enduring connection between history, culture, and progress.
